The Pout Pout Fish Playdate

Today was our second book club playdate, and it went great! Chandra chose The Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen for the book club playdate. It’s one of her boys’ favorite books and it is so cute! She decided on an ocean theme for the food and activities, and the kids had such a great time.

After the kids totally destroyed the playroom, we listened to the story of The Pout Pout Fish. Of course, the younger ones were a little wild during story time!

Next, we made a jellyfish out of paper plates and crepe paper. I thought this was such a fantastic idea, because it’s simple enough for toddlers, inexpensive, and adorable to hang up in your kids’ rooms when they’re done!

Lunch followed with a variety of ocean themed snacks! She served Octopus hot dogs (the boys’ favorite!), goldfish, sea creature cookies, and jello ocean cups! The boys and I made the cookies the night before, and I let them paint the icing on! So it was a snack and an activity for us!

Finally, the kids enjoyed Finding Nemo, while destroying the playroom some more! LOL!

All in all it was a fun book club playdate, and everyone enjoyed it! Chandra did an amazing job putting it together, and I look forward to the next one she hosts! Our next book club meeting is July 10th, so keep checking back for more books and ideas! And feel free to comment with yours, I’m always looking for more ideas!
