Want to know a secret? I Hate LEGOS! I hate stepping on the little pieces, that are all over my house, because the boys have not figured out that they stay on the lego table! I swear there’s got to be a million of them…. or at least a couple hundred! The other thing I hate about them, is that my boys and hubby love them so much, so they are here to stay unfortunately! So in an attempt to try and like them, I was trying to think of some different things the boys could do with their block besides making bridges and towers with them. I stumbled upon a link on Pinterest, which I love! Here’s the link if you wanna see what other block activities they have! http://handsonaswegrow.com/2012/03/lots-of-blocks-activities.html There are tons of great ideas on here, but the one I found that I thought would work great for both boys was actually from Rockabye Butterfly. It was intended as a following instructions activity, but it was also making patterns. I instantly loved this idea, because the possibilities were endless! I wanted to color the blocks, but instead found another website that had the lego patterns you could print! So yeah… I printed them! There were tons of other great math ideas on this site so I wanted to share it with you. http://www.geocities.com/thetoddlerhouse824/mathcenters.html All in all, the boys had a great time with this activity. Mcqueen wanted to play all day, Mater liked it for about 20 minutes or so and was back to riding his stick horse. LOL! We also did a little Lego math, by using a counting poster I bought at Dollar Tree that had numbers on it. I had Mcqueen put the number of Legos that were needed in each box. In conclusion, Legos still almost make me swear out loud ever time I step on them, but at least they are serving a greater purpose now!
